The purpose of this article is to present the conclusions of the analysis done about the role played by rating agencies in the development of the subprime financial crisis. A documental analysis was made about the actions carried out by the three main rating agencies: Standard and Poor, Moody’s and Fitch, in the development and deepening of the subprime crisis. A favorable rating issued by these companies boosted the securitization of a certain financial instruments or issuers, but in the same way, their conflict of interest evolved into problems or failures in the world financial system.
