Internal migration in Peru, from the countryside to the city since the middle of the last century, is the context of this research that analyzes the experience of the values of origin and acceptance, parento-filial relationships, discriminatory attitudes, challenges and opportunities in the Peruvian educational system. The study is qualitative, ethnomethodological, synchronous and is carried out with fifteen adolescent immigrants to Lima, from the departments of the mountains: Abancay, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco and Puno. The set of instruments that apply to immigrant adolescents are an observation guide, a script for the semi-structured interview and an interview guide for focus groups. The results indicated that adolescents remained in the public education system, there was predominance of their origin values, they maintained parental-filial relationships via telephone, they were victims of
discriminatory attitudes by their teachers and peers, they were confronted to respond to high expectations of their relatives and their communities of origin and in the host city had few opportunities due to their status as shelters. It is recommended that
future research address the issue of affirming sexual identity in immigrant adolescents, which turned out to be an emerging theme in the present investigation. - Downloads
