Abstract

Analgesic music therapy promises to be a safe alternative to complement pharmacotherapy for patients with various conditions. The aim of this narrative review is to know the effectiveness of music therapy and the quality of the clinical studies that have been carried out in this regard, which is why in this review, a search and selection of recent studies on the subject published in
scientific literature databases was carried out. The selected articles were described and subsequently evaluated with the Jadad score. As a result, it was observed that despite the tendency to obtain promising results with this therapy, there is still no strong
evidence to recommend its use. However, it is a versatile therapeutic approach that patients like, which is why it should continue to be studied, addressing some areas for improvement.
