Abstract

Currently, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood and youth. It is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. The growing interest in understanding difficulties in the cognitive and social spheres has led to the study of Theory of Mind (ToM). Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic
Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) model, a research process was carried out on the terms ADHD and ToM from articles in English and Spanish. Twenty-five articles met the inclusion criteria and were selected for further analysis. The studies cover from
2013 to 2022. Most of the study designs deal with the topic of transversal interest, they include children and adolescents of both genders, with a small size and most of the research was carried out in countries Europeans. The tasks used to evaluate ToM
are correlated with those of EF and the consumption of psychostimulants, such as methylphenidate (MPH), which influences inhibitory control and working memory. Interest in studying ToM in ADHD is increasing after findings that may lead to the creation of new interventions.
