Resilience is a concept that refers to the human capacity to overcome adversity. Therefore, in incarcerated women, this ability becomes an important aspect that enables them to adapt to and cope with life in a correctional facility.
On the other hand, emotions allow individuals to detect significant life events and respond appropriately to them. For this reason, an Emotional Management program called “Growing with My Emotions” was implemented in a correctional facility, with
the primary objective of increasing resilience in incarcerated women.
The study employed a quantitative approach, applied in nature, utilizing a cross-sectional quasi-experimental design and the sample consisted of 26 incarcerated women from a correctional facility in the city of La Paz. A quasi-experimental research design was used, with one experimental group and one control group. A pre-test using the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale (1993) was applied to both groups. Then, the “Growing with My Emotions” program was carried out with the experimental group, followed by a post-test, using the same scale, for both groups.Based on the analysis of the results using non-parametric tests, the pre-test and post-test data of both the experimental and control groups were compared. A nonsignificant difference was identified, leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis.
