Nomophobia and Phubbing levels in students of the Santo Tomás University of the City of Arica

Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to determine the presence of Nomofobia and Phubbing in students of the Santo Tomás University of Arica, considering the variables sex and age. A study was carried out with a correlational descriptive scope, a non-experimental cross-sectional design and a stratified non-probabilistic. The administration of the instruments was directed to
248 participants between men and women, who responded anonymously, through the NMP-Q questionnaires and the Phubbing scale. The data were analyzed using the statistical package SPSS version 23. The results showed that there is a statistically
significant correlation between Nomophobia and Phubbing, on the other hand in the dimension of Nomophobia (Not being able to communicate), women present the highest scores.
